Abstract

Background. Research with the title “Effect of Red Seaweed (Gracilaria sp.) Supplemented in Beef Cattle Feed to digestibility of dry matter and organic matter with in Vitro method” was conducted at October 4th 2017 to February 24th 2018 at Animal Feedstuff Science Laboratory and Animal Nutrition Science Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Science, Jenderal Soedirman University. The aim of research was to evaluated the effect of Gracilaria sp. supplementation to digestibility of dry matter and organic matter with in vitro method. Materials and methods. Material of the study were rumen fluid from 3 local beef cattle which was taken from Bantarwuni slaughter house, concentrate from Bata Feed, red seaweed Gracilaria sp, sets of equipment to measure digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. The method of this research was experimental method in vitro used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) that consisted of 5 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times. The applied treatment was of R1 = forage 40% + concentrate 60 % (CP=12% and TDN=60%) , R2 = R1 + Gracilaria sp. 2% of R1; R3 = R1 + Gracilaria sp. 4% of R1; R4 = R1 + Gracilaria sp. 6% of R1; R5 = R1 + Gracilaria sp. 8% of R1. Variable observed were digestibility of dry matter and organic matter, data were analyzed using variance analysis and continued orthogonal polynomial test. Conclusion. Digestibility of dry matter and organic matter feed beef was influenced caused by supplemented Gracilaria sp.
